Women's Harvest Moon Kayak Campout
Celebrate the turn of the seasons paddling and camping with a group of adventuresome, nature-lovingwomen. Spend the afternoon learning paddling, safety skills, and kayak packing necessary for extended trips Great Lakes paddling. Paddle out to Government Island to set up base camp under the cedars. Island Campouts
Travel like the nomadic indigenous people did thousands of years ago. In kayaks, we will paddle ourselves and all camping gear to our Island campsite. Your guide will set up the base camp and cook meals. In the evening, enjoy the rise of the full moon from sea kayaks. Continue through the moonlit waters on a night journey among the islands. Return back to base camp for a campfire, star gazing and watching the moonlight dance on Lake Huron. Free time will be available to do art, journaling, reading, hiking, swimming and whatever catches your spirit. Five meals, sea kayak/paddling gear, instruction and guide will be provided. Plan to be back on the mainland mid afternoon the next day. There is no experience necessary for this adventure but you must provide your own tent, sleeping bag and transportation to launch site.
