Grand Island Loop Hiking
Grand Island is located in Lake Superior, about half a mile from the mainland community of Munising, Michigan. The island's scenic natural beauty and history makes it an attractive place for camping and other outdoor activities.
Avid hikers will thoroughly enjoy this loop-styled, 23 mile perimeter trail around the main island. Not only do the Grand Island hiking trails offer an abundance of trail junctions with directional signs, but the view of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is one of a kind from Grand Islands cliffs.
Currently, a hiking only trail has been designated in the northeast part of the island, and the Thumb's travel ways are reserved for hiking-only use.
