Les Cheneaux Historical Muesum
Housed in a historic log cabin and Scandinavian log addition, the Les Cheneaux Historical Museum offers historical displays, activities and gifts focused on the history and culture of Cedarville and Hessel. American Indian artifacts, tools from the logging era, photographs and historical items tell the story of frontier life and tourist periods since 1884. Explore the geology of the islands history, and celebrate the prominence of wooden boating in our area. Annually changing exhibits let you experience the history of our community and the nation. Displays have included: what children played with before the 20th Century, an 1800s wedding, bedrooms in the 1800-1900s, house-keeping in the "old days" and more. Activities all summer long, plus the annual holiday open house and decorated Christmas tree auction Thanksgiving weekend through early December.
