A short, 1/8-mile accessable trail encircles the recently stabilized ruins of a blast furnace where pig iron was made between 1870 and 1877. One of the last of its kind located in the U.P., it is also a great place to view Lake Superior and Grand Island. Interpretive signs explain how the furnace was operated and tell its unique history, including construction, damage by fire, and partial preservation.

From M-28 and H-58 in Munising, take M-28 west 5 miles and turn right at the Bay Furnace Campground sign.
