Art Hop
The Les Cheneaux Area Artisan Cooperative presents the first ever Les Cheneaux Art Hop, a public art exhibition and competition! Art Hop has invited anyone and everyone to create original art pieces to be displayed July through the Les Cheneaux Boat Show weekend. Works are all over Cedarville and Hessel, and brochures listing the art locations are at the Les Cheneaux Visitor Center, First National Bank, Woods and Water Ecotours, and many more stores.
Works are indoors or outside, and the public is invited to vote for their favorite pieces.
Two categories for creations:
1) age 15 and younger
2) age 16 and over.

Welcome the arrival of the tall ship "Inland Seas" to kick off a two day sailabration of Sault Ste. Marie’s unique relationship to the river and lakes.

Dennis Hale Author of Shipwrecked: Reflections of the Sole Survivor
Dennis was the only survivor of the steamer Daniel J. Morrell, which sank on Lake Huron in late November 1966 this self-published volume delves deep into the emotional side of the story.
B. David Warner Author of Dead Lock (Fiction)
Escaping from the Detroit mob, Detroit Times reporter Kate Brennan travels to Sault Marie in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. She takes a job on her uncle's newspaper. Investigating the murder of her best friend, she runs head long into a Nazi plot to destroy the Soo Locks and shut down every Allied plant in North America.

History Fest
Location: Water Street Historic Block
Friday August 3, 2012 5-8 p.m.
Saturday August 4, 2012 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Come celebrate the history of Sault Ste. Marie "The Place Where Michigan was Born!". Enjoy traditional music, watch and learn how people survived with demonstrations of birch bark canoe building, native encampment, fishing camp, blacksmith along with 1812 re-enactors, spinning, and weaving. Children’s activities will include historic crafts, games, and demonstrations. Native American dancing, artisans, and food will be featured both days and so much more!
On Saturday visitors can meet John and Susan Johnston as well as others who were central to the Sault's history. Visit with these individuals as you tour their homes and buildings on Water Street. Come join us as we reconnect with our past.
Everyone is invited to partake in the activities and experience the history of Sault Ste. Marie Michigan.
No admission but donations are gladly accepted to support of ongoing efforts to help promote our local history.

Join the downtown business owners who will be hosting sidewalk sales. Wander the streets filled with craft, merchant, and food vendors.

Join us each Friday in August for great evenings in Downtown St. Ignace.
The Museum of Ojibwa Culture will host historic walking tours and Native American drumming and singing. The Colonial House Inn will be featuring artists and live music.
Karaoke, kite flying, remote control vehicles and more are just a few of the additional activities you can participate in.
